子曰：“中庸之为德也，其至矣乎！民鲜久矣。”
译文
孔子说："中庸作为一种道德，该是最高的了吧！人们缺乏这种品德已经很久了。"
ENGLISH
The Master said: "The virtue of the Mean — is it not the highest of all? Yet among the people it has long been rare."
注释
①中庸：孔子学说的一种最高道德标准。中，折中，调和，无过之也无不及。庸，平常，普通。
②鲜(xiǎn)：少。
