ENGLISH
Upon encountering those in mourning garments — even close acquaintances — the Master always changed his countenance in solemn respect. Upon seeing those wearing ceremonial caps and the blind — even in familiar, informal settings — he invariably showed proper reverence in his bearing. When passing those dressed in mourning while riding in a carriage, he would bow forward over the crossbar in salutation; he did the same for those carrying the state registers. At a sumptuous feast, his expression would always change and he would rise to show his respect. At the sudden crash of thunder or the fury of a violent wind, his countenance would likewise turn grave and reverent.
